About The Games

The Midtown Madness games are a series of virtual racing games that have players race inside cities with other opponents.

Unlike racing games that restrict the player to a race track, Midtown Madness offers an open world recreation of real-life citites. This setting was said to provide "an unprecedented degree of freedom to drive around in a virtual city". Players can explore the city using one of several modes and can determine the weather and traffic conditions for each race. The game supports Multiplayer races over a local area network or the Internet. Angel Studios developed another video game featuring open-world recreations of cities, Midnight Club: Street Racing. The players start with vehicles that are readily available to them for completing races with opponents in single player or with other players in multiplayer mode. There are race-against-the-clock Blitz races, Checkpoint races for snagging checkpoints and closed-arena circuit races for laps around charted courses within a city.

This Wiki also features other Madness titles involving Monster Trucks and Motorcycles in race tracks or closed arena circuits.

Midtown Madness (the first Midtown Madness game in the series) is developed by Angel Studios and uses the Angel Studios game engine.
